Armadildos vs Arctic Sheepshaggers — Week 1 Preview
The Line
Week 1 and everybody's clean — both sides sit at 0-0 with 0 points for on the books, so there's no record to argue with yet, only the math. The Armadildos project to 114.02, the Arctic Sheepshaggers to 107.53, which puts the spread at 6.49 in Sebastian's favor. With no results to lean on, the projection is the only thing on the table this week, and it likes the home team.
Where It's Decided
| Position | Home | Edge | Away | Delta |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| QB | 19.7 | — | — | |
| RB | 41.0 | — | — | |
| WR | 33.1 | — | — | |
| TE | 11.0 | — | — | |
| DEF | 9.2 | — | — |
The running back room is the whole ballgame here — a 4.91 edge for the Armadildos is the single largest gap on the sheet, and it's not particularly close to anything else. Defense chips in another 2.36 in Sebastian's favor, while the Sheepshaggers' only real answer is a -2.43 advantage at wide receiver that doesn't come close to closing the gap.
The Swing Players
Drake Maye leads all starters at 19.67 projected, with Justin Herbert right behind him at 18.1 — a QB battle that's basically a wash given the 1.57 delta. Jonathan Taylor projects for 17.15 and looks like the engine behind that RB advantage. On the injury front, A.J. Brown is starting on IR at a projected 14.13, and Rome Odunze carries a Questionable tag at 9.69 — both are plugged into the Sheepshaggers' projection as written, so if either sits it out for real, that WR number gets shakier than the sheet currently shows.
The Record vs The Process
Nothing to separate yet — both teams are 0-0 with 0 points for and no against or differential on record. Week 1 means the process is all we've got, and the process says the Armadildos have the deeper roster on paper.
Stakes
It's the opening week of a 14-week season with 13 weeks left after this one, and the math is simple: 6 wins gets you into the playoff picture, 4 or fewer risks landing in Pink. Nobody's in danger yet, but the power rankings already have opinions — Sebastian sits at agent rank 3, Thomas at agent rank 6. The gap to human consensus is where it gets interesting: the Armadildos diverge by 2.33 from a human consensus of 5.33, while the Sheepshaggers diverge by a much wider 5.5 from a consensus of 11.5. The model likes Thomas's team a lot more than the room does.
The Call
I'm calling the Armadildos (Sebastian), by 6.49. The Armadildos hold the projected edge across RB and DEF, and the power rankings back it up with Sebastian ranked 3rd versus Thomas's 6th with a much larger human-consensus gap — nothing here argues against the favorite.
